The Vanuatu Agriculture College and the Pacific Growers Export Partnership will be hosting a series of Sustainable Agri-Business workshops in line with the Strategic Policy Brief on Cocoa Development in Vanuatu 2012 – 2015. (attached).<span id="more-330"></span><br />
Please let us know if you are interested in attending or if you would like to be kept informed of developments.  We are focused on a strongly participatory and co-creative process and would also appreciate any comments or feedback as well as any support that may be available.<br />
<strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Brief:</span></strong><br />
For the first workshop of a series of four PGEP Vanuatu Sustainable Agri-Business Workshop will have the focus of organic certification, within the wider AP/PGEP strategy goal to facilitate a low cost, multi-certification platform for growers across the Pacific Region.<br />
<strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Funding:</span></strong><br />
At this stage the Workshops will be hosted by the, Vanuatu Agriculture College, Pacific Growers Export Partnership Biological Farmers of Australia.  All participating partners/stakeholders should at this stage seek their own funding.  We will endeavour to create a budget to assist those who cannot make it on financial grounds, but the focus will be to get Vanuatu cocoa growers to the workshop in Santo.<br />
<strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Workshop Outline:</span></strong><br />
In terms of the focus, our mission will be<br />
1. Certification:<br />
To have completed the required paperwork to commence the certification process for stakeholders who have expressed interest, which includes</p>
<ul>
<li>3 plantations (coconut&amp; cocoa) ,</li>
<li>1 processor (coconut),</li>
<li>2 Grower Groups (cocoa)</li>
</ul>
<p>2. Information &amp; Education:</p>
<p>- To invite growers and cooperatives to join the conversation on certification and understand the requirements from a growers perspective in terms of managing information, information requirements, expectations</p>
<p>- to invite interested stakeholders from within Vanuatu and the Pacific region to participate in a co-creative, open discussion interns of certification in general and particularly Vanuatu in terms of the PGEP pilot of a low cost multi certification platform</p>
<p>- to facilitate a discussion among the core institutions in terms of certification in Vanuatu in order to understand the requirements that underlies the management of a national grower database.</p>

<li>auditing body Vanuatu Quarantine Inspection Service</li>
<li>agribusiness info &amp; marketing body: Vanuatu Commodities Marketing Board</li>
</ul>
<p>3. Registration:</p>
<p>To commence registration process of attending growers who have expressed through the  workshop and to create a communication platform in order to keep the information flow between growers, extension services and the VAC and all other local and regional stakeholders.<br />

We encourage all stakeholders to participate in a co-creative approach in this opportunity to create an innovative platform for low cost multi-certification system that will lead to measurable improvements in the livelihoods of growers in Vanuatu and the Pacific Region.</p>
